We make cloud couches out of four kinds of foam module and no frame at all. Here is why, and what that means in your living room.
An Ohllob couch has nothing hard inside
Ohllob started in 2021 with a single corner module and one stubborn question. Why does a deep couch need a wooden frame at all, when nobody ever sees it and it is the part that will not fit through the door?
So we took the frame out. Every Ohllob seat is a block of high-resilience foam inside a chenille cover. There are no legs to screw in, no bolts, no Allen key in the box. You open the carton, set the piece where you want it, and let the foam rise over two or three days.
Taking the frame out changed more than the delivery. A couch without a frame is a set of pieces, and pieces can move. That became the whole idea of the Ohllob range.
We make four kinds of module: a corner seat with one arm, an armless middle seat, an ottoman at the same height as the seats, and a single seat with two arms. Every couch we sell is some mix of those.
Two corners make our loveseat. Add a middle and an ottoman and you have the 110 inch L. Add a second ottoman and it is a U. Four seats and two ottomans stretch to 140 inches, and seven pieces wrap two walls.
The pieces do not clip together, and we think that is right. It means the U in your first apartment can become an L and a loveseat in two rooms of your next one.
What we fuss over
Seat height, mostly. Our sectional seats sit 18.9 inches off the floor and the ottoman is cut to the same height, so a chaise made from two pieces feels like one cushion under your legs. The loveseat and single seat sit a touch lower, at 18.5 inches.
Depth comes next. The seat is 25.6 inches deep, deep enough to sit cross-legged and still have a back cushion behind you. The back rises to 33.5 inches with the cushions in.
And colour. Every new Ohllob shade spends about a month on our own living-room floor before it goes into the range. Chenille looks different under a window at noon than it does under a lamp at ten at night, and we would rather find that out than have you find it out. Right now there are 7 shades across the range.
Foam without a frame is soft by design. If you like to perch on the edge of a firm seat, or you need arms to push up from, a framed sofa with a higher seat will suit you better.
The main chenille is dry-clean only. Pillow covers come off and wash cold, but a spill on the seat itself needs blotting straight away.
And the pieces sit side by side rather than locking. On a polished floor with lively kids they will drift. A rug under the whole set fixes most of that.

How to choose
Start with the wall, not the couch. Measure the longest run you can give it and how far into the room it can come before it blocks a path. Then pick the layout from the plans above, and the colour last.
If you are not sure, begin small. A loveseat plus an ottoman is a sensible first Ohllob, and every piece you add later matches it in height and fabric.
